Founding First Lady Barbara T. Lockett is a native of Greensboro, North Carolina where she assisted her husband, the late Bishop Otis Lockett, Sr. and now assists her son, Superintendent Otis Lockett, Jr. in ministry at the Evangel Fellowship Church of God in Christ and Zion Place Ministries.

 

Lady Lockett oversees the Women’s Ministry at all three churches. She served as District Missionary for the Greater Piedmont District of the Churches of God in Christ of NC Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction for twenty years (1993-2013). In 2004, she founded WIM (Women in Ministry), a thriving ministry which brings together women from various churches and denominations for the purpose of enriching lives through prayer, the Word, and fellowship! Most recently, Lady Lockett was appointed by Bishop Stenneth E. Powell to the position of Assistant State Supervisor Of Women’s Department of North Carolina Second Ecclesiastical Jurisdiction of the Church of God in Christ.

 

Lady Barbara Lockett shares the gospel with a practical presentation and communicates with unmistakable clarity as she continues to motivate and challenge people from every walk of life to strive for excellence in every area of their lives. Lady Lockett assisted her husband in founding other vital ministries including Positive Direction for Youth & Families, an outreach ministry designed to address the needs of at-risk youth and families; The Malachi House, a residential program geared toward helping men with alcohol and drug addictions; E.J.’s Job Placement Services; and Kingdom Builders General Contracting Company, designed to build low income housing for needy families and churches to accommodate the religious needs of our growing communities. Additionally, Lady Barbara assisted her husband in providing apostolic covering to over 29 district and covenant churches.

 

In pursuit of excellence in education, Lady Lockett received two degrees from North Carolina A&T State University: a Bachelors of Science in English Education, and a Master in Education Administration and Supervision. She taught High School English for 17 years before becoming a full-time​ member of the Evangel Ministries Staff.

 

Lady Barbara Turner Lockett and the late Bishop Otis Lockett are the proud parents of three God-fearing children: Dr. Faith Lockett Gardner and husband James R Gardner, Superintendent Otis Lockett Jr., and Pastor Joshua S. Lockett.
